The Death Thing - 2/2

I love it when I know the where I’m going - in business, on holiday or in a relationship. It’s like things feel under control when we have a plan and I know what it is. Those around me draw confidence from my vision, passion and sense of purpose - most of the time.

Our staff all need to know that we’re going in order to be happy in their work. They need to know that when we’ve got money coming in, enough to pay their wages and more, and that the company is in growth mode. They need to see that there will be a good and strong future, that thought and planning has gone into the business so that they know that we know where we’re going (If that makes sense!)

The first thing a bank manager wants to see when we borrow is a cashflow plan. It’s not so important what has happened, it’s just more important for him to know where we’re going. A couple of years ago I set up WDANZ and the focus spent building this operation drew away from Go Kiwi Internet. Not a worry in the long-term but it was a pretty big drain on the cash reserves during the first year or so. Even though the bank manager and I had a little disagreement over it all (He said I should never have done it and I said too bad, I already have!), I had a greater long-term vision than he did, and I knew where I was going.

Apollo 13 didn’t go too well for a few men in space, but Houston says to the spacecraft in trouble, “We have a plan” and their blood pressure drops a smidgen because they have hope that they can go where they want to.

Once of the real biggies in life is what happens after its all over. You can see the results of the Egyptians’ theology in the museums of Cairo and elsewhere. Every culture you can think of has their own great ideas on the life-after death thing. Some say it’s a black hole, others that we’re all going to end up in and airy-fairy wonderland with angels and harps and so on.

I’ve researched and read and questioned for years about it and keep coming back to the good book for my understanding of such spiritual matters. I’ve built up a thousand reasons why, based on my experiences, learning, research, revelation and of course faith.

The good book makes it pretty clear actually. Jesus says to His disciples:

In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.  You know the way to the place where I am going.”
John 14:2-4

Ahhh - cool! A man who knows where He is going.

Jesus’ strong leadership and teaching in life after death stuff was based on His divine nature and prior knowledge of heaven, with a smattering of direct revelation I’m sure, endeared Him to many of those around him. Basically we are appointed once to live, then to die, and we’re judged according to our life on earth. Destination Heaven, or destination Hell. Not too hard a concept to grasp really.

The VICTUS IN AMBITUS way is to check out what the good book says, then follow the One who is already there before us, and always has been.

What do you think about?
